IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu withdraws threat to disrupt Anambra governorship election

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has withdrawn the group's threat to disrupt the conduct of the November 18th governorship election in Anambra State.

Kanu announced the withdrawal of the group's threat after he had a meeting with a non-governmental organization, the Ala-Igbo International Foundation, in Owerri, the Imo State capital yesterday August 18th.

The leader of the foundation, Prof. Uzodinma Nwala, said after much deliberations which they claimed was still ongoing,  the IPOB has assured the Igbo leaders that it won’t disrupt the November 18 governorship election.

The Ala-Igbo Development Foundation is an Igbo group that consists of Igbo academics, elders, clerics, patriotic public figures, women and youth, both at home and abroad, with the main objective of protecting and ensuring the survival of Ndigbo, their culture, and civilization as well as the development of Igboland.

Recall that IPOB has over time insisted on disrupting the election if the Federal government does not agree to a referendum for the creation of Biafra.
